Black pudding is now a superfood
There’s a new superfood in town. And it’s not a fruit, it’s not avocado – it’s not even chia thingys or a rare species of seaweed. No, the new 2016 SuperFood is Black pudding ! Love it or hate it, black pudding (or ‘blood sausage’ as it’s also fondly called) is the latest edible item to be given the superfood label, which describes foods with mega-great health or nutritional benefits.

Loaded with protein, potassium, calcium and magnesium, as well as being practically carb free, it is expected to fly off the shelves. it’s also rich in iron and zinc – two minerals frequently missing from modern diets. Iron is needed to make healthy blood cells and prevent anaemia. Iron deficiency also leads to fatigue and poor concentration.
The breakfast staple joined seaweed, black beans, avocado oil, teff grains and birch water as key superfoods for 2016.
